Merlot 70%, Cabernet Franc 25%, Cabernet Sauvignon 4%, Petit Verdot 1%.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe producer\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eChâteau Preuillac stands in the heart of the Médoc, ten kilometres north of Saint-Estèphe, in a château dating from 1869, and was included in the 1932 Crus Bourgeois classification. New owners have renovated the cellar and installed conical fermenters, with Nathalie Billard making the wine. The 30-hectare vineyard sits on a single block planted in the 1970s, now averaging 40 years of age, over soils that are half clay, limestone and gravel, a quarter gravel and a quarter sandy gravel; work follows la lutte raisonnée, with green harvesting and debudding done by hand. Fermentation took place in thermo-regulated wooden tanks over eight to ten days, beginning cool and finishing at 28°C, after which 70% of the wine spent 12 months in French oak from several cooperages, with part of the malolactic fermentation in barrel. The 2015 season gave generous flowering, a hot dry early summer, a cooler damper August and fine September weather.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eFood and drinking\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eServe at 16-18°C. Good with roast lamb, rib of beef, duck breast, or a hard cheese such as aged Gouda. Decant for half an hour before serving.
