Nebbiolo 100%.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eThe producer\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCarlo Vietti founded the winery in Castiglione Falletto in the 1800s; Alfredo Currado, who married into the family, made one of the first single-cru Barolos, Rocche di Castiglione, in 1961 and revived the near-extinct Arneis grape, and the artist labels began in 1974. Luca Currado Vietti led the estate from the 1990s until his retirement in 2023; the Krause family bought Vietti in 2016 and have since added crus in Barolo, Barbaresco and Colli Tortonesi, and Vinous named it Winery of the Year in 2022. Castiglione is Vietti's Barolo Classico, drawn from around twenty small vineyards across the Barolo communes with vines of 10–45 years on ancient limestone and clay, Guyot-trained at 4,500 vines per hectare and picked by hand in October. Winemaker Eugenio Palumbo vinified and aged each cru separately: three to four weeks in steel with pre- and post-ferment maceration under a submerged cap, malolactic in wood, then around 30 months in large Slavonian and French casks before blending.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eFood and drinking\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGood with braised beef, roast game, truffle pasta and aged cheeses.
