Pinot Noir 100%.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eThe producer\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eAlbert Morot was founded in 1820 as one of the largest négociant houses in Burgundy; the castle in Creusotte Park, built by Berthe Morot in 1880, still houses the estate today, and later generations dropped the négociant trade to concentrate on eight hectares spread across ten appellations in the best Premiers Crus of Beaune. The vineyards have been certified organic since 2015, and the 1.27 hectares in Les Bressandes, north of Beaune, carry 50-year-old vines planted at 10,000 per hectare on limestone mixed with marl, green-harvested down to 23 to 25 hectolitres per hectare. Grapes were picked and sorted by hand, de-stemmed, fermented in open vats on natural yeasts with one pigeage or pump-over a day, then aged 14 months in French oak, 30% of it new, and bottled by gravity without fining or filtration. 2022 was dry, hot and early, with July and August among the hottest and driest months of the last 30 years, and the fruit came in healthy and fully ripe.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch3\u003eFood and drinking\u003c\/h3\u003e\u003cp\u003eServe at 16-18°C. Rare roast beef, duck breast, a mushroom and thyme tart, or Époisses. Drinking well now and over the next eight years; half an hour in a decanter opens the savoury side.
