Light on its feet, fresh and vibrant, finishing on a pleasing note of bitter almond. Vermentino 100%.

The producer

The Parpinello family has run this 35-hectare estate for three generations, with Giampaolo Parpinello and his son Paolo now at the helm. The vineyard sits on a gentle slope between Alghero and Sassari in the north-west of the island, on calcareous marl and conglomerate sandstone, farmed without chemicals or herbicides to preserve biodiversity, with pruning and harvesting done by hand and grape clusters selected individually. Sessantaquattro — sixty-four — marks the year Giampaolo began his career as an oenologist in Sardinia. A long pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature was followed by a cool fifteen-day fermentation in stainless steel, with four months on the lees for texture.

Food and drinking

Serve at 8–10°C.
