2017 Pauillac de Château Latour, Château Latour
About the Winery: Château Latour, one of the five Premier Grand Cru Classé estates of Bordeaux, is renowned for its precision, power and extraordinary longevity. Situated at the southern edge of Pauillac, the estate’s vineyards—particularly the famed Enclos—sit on deep gravel and clay soils that produce Cabernet Sauvignon of unrivalled structure and purity. Pauillac de Château Latour is the estate’s third wine, crafted with the same meticulous standards as the Grand Vin and Forts de Latour, offering an earlier-drinking expression of Latour’s signature complexity.
Grape Variety: Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc (proportions vary by vintage).
Appearance: Deep ruby with a refined, youthful rim and excellent clarity.
Aroma: Blackcurrant, blackberry and plum layered with cedar, graphite, tobacco, dried herbs and subtle oak spice. Classic Pauillac character with lifted aromatic precision.
Palate: Elegant and structured with ripe dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity and a savoury, lingering finish. A refined, approachable expression of Latour’s hallmark depth and balance, with impressive purity and tension.
Body: Medium to full-bodied with polished texture.
Acidity: Medium to high, providing lift and structure.
Cellaring Potential: Drink now or cellar for 8–12 years for added complexity and classic Pauillac evolution.
Perfect Pairing: Roast lamb, ribeye steak, duck breast, mushroom dishes and aged hard cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.
Serving Temperature: 16–18°C; decant for 30–60 minutes to enhance complexity and texture.
