About the Winery: Bodegas Resalte de Peñafiel is an award-winning boutique winery established in 2000, located in Peñafiel, DO Ribera del Duero. They focus on crafting high-quality wines from 80 hectares of vineyards, combining state-of-the-art winemaking with traditional methods to produce modern, complex, and balanced wines.
Grape Variety: 100% Tempranillo (locally known as Tinto Fino/Tinta del País) – an intense and complex wine with delicious flavours of ripe, dark fruits, liquorice, mineral and spice with roasted notes from the oak ageing and a touch of earthiness. A smooth and elegant expression. Tempranillo is Spain’s flagship red, valued for its deep colour, fine-grained tannins, and ability to balance ripe fruit with freshness in continental climates like Ribera del Duero. Naturally suited to oak maturation, it develops notes of vanilla, cocoa, tobacco, and savoury spice over time and is renowned for its excellent ageing potential.
Appearance: Deep ruby with a dense core and purple highlights; bright, with slow, lightly stained tears indicating concentration.
Aroma: Delicious aromas of ripe, dark fruits, liquorice, mineral and spice with roasted notes from the oak ageing.
Palate: The aromas are echoed on the palate which is smooth with fine grained tannins and a long finish.
Body: Full - an intense, concentrated, and long-lasting wine, matured in oak barrels for a minimum of 18 months.
Acidity: Medium - contributes to the wine's balance and longevity.
Cellaring Potential: Long (10-20 yrs) - this wine is crafted to develop complexity and elegance with age, benefiting from its 18 months in oak barrels.
