Description

Refined and full-bodied, with layers of red and dark fruit framed by silky tannins and a delicate almond finish ‚¬” a classic expression of Barbaresco elegance and depth.

About the Winery: The Vietti family has produced fine wine from the heart of the Langhe since the 1800s, when Carlo Vietti established the winery in Castiglione Falletto. In the 1950s, Alfredo Currado, husband of Luciana Vietti, revolutionised Barolo and Barbaresco by producing single-vineyard crus. Known as the ‚¬œFather of Arneis,‚¬ Alfredo also revived this nearly extinct variety and pioneered the use of artist-designed labels, now iconic to Viettiof identity. In 2016, the Krause family acquired the estate, partnering with fourth-generation winemaker Luca Currado until his retirement in 2023. Viettiof innovation, artistry, and respect for terroir continue under the stewardship of winemaker Eugenio Palumbo. In 2022, Vietti was named *Winery of the Year* by Antonio Galloniof *Vinous*.

Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo ‚ sourced from the *Roncaglie* Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive (MGA) in Barbaresco, one of the most historically recognised vineyard sites in the region. South to south-west facing slopes at approximately 280 metres altitude maximise sunlight exposure and airflow, ensuring even ripening and aromatic precision. The limestone- and clay-rich soils yield wines of concentration, tension, and elegance. The 34-year-old Guyot-trained vines are densely planted (4,600 vines/ha), sustainably farmed, and manually harvested.

Vintage: 2019 was a warm yet balanced vintage. Early dryness was offset by timely spring rains and a temperate summer. Septemberof mild days and cool nights promoted full phenolic ripeness, yielding fruit of exceptional intensity and structure ‚¬” a classic vintage built for ageing.

Winemaking: The grapes underwent fermentation for approximately three weeks in stainless steel with regular pump-overs to extract colour, aromatics, and tannins. A cold soak and post-fermentation maceration were included, with the traditional submerged-cap method ensuring gentle extraction. After fermentation, the wine completed malolactic conversion and aged for 30 months in large Slavonian and French oak casks, harmonising depth and finesse.

Appearance: Deep garnet with bright ruby reflections and excellent clarity.

Aroma: Perfumed aromas of redcurrant, black cherry, and plum, layered with spice, rose petal, and a subtle note of almond.

Palate: Rich and refined, combining red and dark fruits with oak spice and a hallmark almond nuance. Soft, silky tannins frame the wineof elegant structure, leading to a lingering, balanced finish.

Body: Full-bodied yet graceful, with refined tannins and notable depth.

Acidity: Fresh and vibrant, balancing richness and ensuring long ageing potential.

Cellaring Potential: Best from 2025 onwards; will evolve gracefully for 15‚20 years, developing notes of truffle, dried rose, and cedar.

Perfect Pairing: Ideal with braised veal shank (*ossobuco*), truffle risotto, or roasted duck with cherries.

Serving Temperature: Serve at 17‚18°C to highlight elegance and aromatic nuance.
