2019 Vigna Marrucheto Brunello di Montalcino, Banfi
About the Winery: Banfi is one of Tuscany’s most internationally renowned estates, recognised for its pioneering research, precision viticulture and commitment to expressing the finest Sangiovese from Montalcino. The single-vineyard “Vigna Marrucheto” lies in the southern sector of the appellation, where well-drained soils, excellent exposure and Banfi’s meticulous vineyard management create Brunello of exceptional purity, structure and longevity. The cuvée represents one of Banfi’s most refined and terroir-driven expressions.
Grape Variety: 100% Sangiovese Grosso
Appearance: Deep garnet-ruby with excellent clarity and a refined, luminous rim.
Aroma: Red cherry, dried rose, plum and wild herbs layered with sweet spice, leather, cedar and subtle balsamic notes. Perfumed and complex with elegant evolution already showing.
Palate: Structured and harmonious with vibrant red fruit, fine-grained tannins, crisp acidity and savoury undertones. Long, poised and mineral, showing purity and depth characteristic of single-vineyard Brunello.
Body: Medium to full-bodied with refined texture.
Acidity: High, providing tension, lift and long-term ageing precision.
Cellaring Potential: Exceptional longevity—enjoy from now or cellar 12–20+ years to reveal further depth, savoury nuance and tertiary development.
Perfect Pairing: Florentine steak, roast lamb, game meats, truffle risotto, aged Pecorino and mushroom-based dishes.
Serving Temperature: 17–18°C; decant 1–2 hours for full aromatic expression.
