Why this wine

The Sonoma Coast is fog-bound and cold, and its Pinot Noir is the closest California gets to Burgundy. Senses was founded by three childhood friends farming their families' vineyards. The estate's flagship, and priced as one.

Description

How it tastes

Mulled red and black fruit, forest floor, conifer and spiced orange over a velvety palate of real purity and precise texture. Whole-berry fermented with wild yeasts.

The producer

The fruit comes from Hillcrest Vineyard, just outside Occidental, bought by Myles' parents Carleton Briggs and Lisa Lawrence in 1988. The Sonoma Coast is fog-bound and cold, which is why it produces the most Burgundian Pinot Noir in California.

Food and drinking

Good with poultry & pork, red meat and cheese. Drinking well now, with a decade or more ahead of it. Serve at 16–18°C.

Free shipping on orders over £250.
