2020 Barolo Cerequio, Vietti
About the Winery: Vietti is one of Piedmont’s most esteemed and historic Barolo producers, renowned for its cruspecific expressions and meticulous craftsmanship. The estate has been a pioneer of single-vineyard Barolo since the 1960s, shaping the modern identity of Langhe’s terroir-driven wines. Cerequio—often called the “King of MGA vineyards”—lies in the commune of La Morra, producing Barolo of exceptional elegance, perfume and mineral depth. Vietti’s interpretation is consistently among the finest, combining purity, structure and long ageing potential.
Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo
Appearance: Garnet with luminous ruby reflections and a gently fading rim, showing classic Cerequio transparency and finesse.
Aroma: Red cherry, rose petal and pomegranate layered with savoury notes of dried herbs, liquorice, tar, spice and crushed limestone. Intensely perfumed, lifted and complex with hallmark Cerequio florality.
Palate: Elegant yet firmly structured with vibrant red fruit, refined tannins, bright acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish. Delicate but powerful, showing precision, energy and exceptional balance typical of this Grand Cru–level site.
Body: Medium to full-bodied with refined texture and layered complexity.
Acidity: High, providing lifted aromatics, structure and long-term ageing capacity.
Cellaring Potential: Outstanding—cellar 15–25+ years to develop deeper savoury complexity, floral depth and refined tertiary layers.
Perfect Pairing: Braised beef, venison loin, truffle pasta, mushroom risotto, aged Parmigiano Reggiano and Piedmontese-style roast meats.
Serving Temperature: 18°C; decant for 2–3 hours to reveal aromatic nuance and structural harmony.
