Naturally high in acidity with fine, firm tannins; typical notes include sour cherry, red plum, violet, and savory herbs, with hints of cedar and earth; with age it develops leather, tobacco, and balsamic nuances. On galestro and alberese soils it shows notable minerality and tension.
