Textural and expressive, this full-bodied organic Sauvignon Semillon reveals lemongrass, white peach, and lanolin notes with hints of struck match and remarkable balance.

 

About the Winery: Located in Marlboroughof Dillonof Point subregion, the Glover family estate has been a pioneer of sustainable viticulture since the 1980s. Fourth-generation farmer-turned-winemaker Ben Glover‚¬”an inaugural Len Evans scholar and one of New Zealandof most respected winemakers‚¬”leads the **Spoke** project alongside Master of Wine Liam Steevenson. Their shared philosophy centres on ethical and environmentally responsible winemaking, creating wines that express both power and place with minimal intervention. Certified organic since 2020, Spoke crafts aromatic, textural wines that embody precision, complexity, and a sense of quiet confidence.

 

Grape Variety: Sauvignon Blanc 75%, Semillon 25% ‚ sourced from the organically farmed Brink Vineyard in the mid-Wairau Valley, planted in 1992 on silt, loam, and clay soils that promote depth and concentration.

 

Appearance: Pale straw with green-gold hues, bright and reflective with fine viscosity from lees ageing.

 

Aroma: Complex and alluring with aromas of citrus peel, lemongrass, and white peach interwoven with lanolin, flint, and a subtle struck-match nuance from wild barrel fermentation.

 

Palate: Generous and layered, offering creamy texture and savoury depth. Notes of lemon curd, ripe peach, and gentle toastiness are balanced by fresh acidity and mineral drive, culminating in a long, focused finish of precision and poise.

 

Body: Full-bodied, with weight and texture balanced by a taut, lively structure.

 

Acidity: Fresh yet restrained, ensuring brightness and tension through the finish.

 

Cellaring Potential: Drink now for vibrant expression or cellar for 5‚7 years to develop greater nuttiness and lanolin complexity.

 

Perfect Pairing: Perfect with roasted chicken, grilled monkfish, or dishes featuring lemon and herb butter; also complements soft cheeses like Taleggio or creamy risotto.

 

Serving Temperature: Serve at 10‚12°C to enhance texture and aromatic depth.
