Why this wine
Margaret River is widely held to produce Australia's finest Cabernet, its maritime climate giving structure and cassis rather than sweetness. Xanadu are among the region's most consistent names. Serious Cabernet at an unserious price.

How it tastes
Cassis, mulberry and blue fruit entwined with mocha, refined and concentrated with ripe tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon 90%, Malbec 6%, Petit Verdot 4%.
The producer
Fruit comes from Wilyabrup and Wallcliffe using the renowned Houghton clone. Dr John Lagan, an Irishman, arrived in Margaret River in 1968 and established Xanadu as one of the region's pioneers.
Food and drinking
Good with red meat, cheese and pasta. Ready now, and will hold for a few years yet. Serve at 16–18°C.
