2021 Chardonnay Reserve, Yering Station
About the Winery: Established in 1838, Yering Station is the Yarra Valley’s first vineyard and a benchmark producer of elegant, cool-climate wines. The estate combines historic heritage with modern precision, focusing on fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from elevated, carefully selected parcels. The Reserve Chardonnay represents the pinnacle of the winery’s white-wine production, crafted from premium blocks that showcase purity, texture and the distinctive mineral tension of the Yarra Valley’s cool slopes.
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Appearance: Pale gold with green reflections and brilliant clarity, showing freshness, intensity and refined oak handling.
Aroma: Lifted notes of white peach, nectarine and lemon curd supported by flinty reduction, toasted almond, vanilla spice and subtle brioche. Floral hints and cool-climate citrus add vibrancy and finesse.
Palate: Elegant, layered and beautifully balanced. Ripe stone fruit and citrus flavours integrate with creamy texture, fine French oak and a touch of minerality. The acidity is bright yet harmonious, driving a long, pure, polished finish that highlights the structure and precision of the 2021 vintage.
Body: Medium-bodied with a refined, silky mouthfeel and excellent concentration.
Acidity: Medium to high — crisp, balanced and essential for ageing potential and structural definition.
Cellaring Potential: 6–8 years; developing greater complexity with notes of honey, toasted nuts, flint and deeper savoury richness while maintaining freshness.
Perfect Pairing: Ideal with roast chicken, lobster, scallops, creamy pasta, white fish, mushroom risotto, soft cheeses and lightly spiced dishes. Its balance of richness and cool-climate precision makes it exceptionally versatile with refined cuisine.
Serving Temperature: 10–12°C to emphasise aromatics, texture and mineral clarity.
