About the Winery: Castello Vicchiomaggio is an historic estate in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone, renowned for combining traditional Tuscan craftsmanship with modern precision. Perched above Greve, the estate produces benchmark Sangiovese wines, with “La Prima” representing its top Gran Selezione—sourced from the estate’s finest hillside plots.
Grape Variety: Sangiovese 90%, Merlot 10% (typical estate blend)
Appearance: Deep ruby with garnet hues and refined clarity.
Aroma: Ripe cherries, red plum and violets supported by notes of tobacco, cedar, sweet spice and subtle earthiness.
Palate: Elegant yet powerful; flavours of cherry, pomegranate and dried herbs over fine-grained tannins and well-judged oak. Long, savoury, mineral-driven finish with a classical Chianti backbone.
