2021 Puligny-Montrachet, Maison Roche de Bellene
About the Winery: Founded by Nicolas Potel, Maison Roche de Bellene is dedicated to producing terroir-expressive Burgundy through sustainable viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. Working with old-vine parcels across the Côte d’Or, the estate focuses on purity, precision and the faithful expression of each village. Their Puligny-Montrachet is sourced from premium limestone-rich sites that deliver the village’s hallmark tension, minerality and refined elegance.
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Appearance: Pale lemon with green hues, bright and youthful, reflecting the cool-climate freshness and limestone soils of Puligny-Montrachet.
Aroma: Refined and expressive with citrus blossom, lemon zest, pear and white peach, supported by crushed stone, hazelnut, subtle spice and a whisper of flint. Oak is discreet and perfectly integrated.
Palate: Elegant, linear and beautifully poised. Bright acidity frames flavours of citrus, green apple and stone fruit, carried by a fine mineral backbone and silky texture. Subtle oak adds structure without dominating. The finish is long, saline and characteristically Puligny in its precision and finesse.
Body: Light to medium-bodied with refined, polished texture.
Acidity: Medium to high — crisp, focused and essential to its tension and ageing potential.
Cellaring Potential: 6–9 years; evolving toward layers of hazelnut, honey, toast and deeper mineral complexity while maintaining freshness and precision.
Perfect Pairing: Ideal with sole meunière, scallops, lobster, roast chicken, creamy pasta dishes, mushroom risotto and soft cheeses. Its tension and purity complement elegant seafood and refined French cuisine.
Serving Temperature: 10–12°C to emphasise minerality, aromatic clarity and textural finesse.
