About the Winery: Founded in 1823, Alois Lageder is a sixth-generation, family-run estate recognised as a benchmark for quality and sustainability in Alto Adige. With a holistic, biodynamic philosophy, the winery combines tradition with innovation to produce wines that reflect their alpine terroir with clarity and finesse. The acquisition of the Löwengang estate in Magra¨ in 1934 marked a turning point, and today the estate encourages all partner growers to adopt organic or biodynamic viticulture. The wines are crafted by Alois Clemens Lageder, known for his focus on purity, balance, and texture.
Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir ‚ sourced from the *Krafuss* vineyard, located at 430‚450 metres in the foothills of the Dolomites. These steep, south-facing slopes benefit from warm daytime sunshine and cool alpine breezes that maintain freshness and aromatic precision. The loamy, gravelly soils with calcareous glacial deposits provide excellent drainage and structure. Certified biodynamic farming promotes soil vitality, deep root growth, and concentrated fruit expression.
Vintage: The 2022 growing season was marked by a dry winter and moderate spring, leading to even budbreak and steady vine growth. A warm, sunny summer balanced by cool nights produced fruit with vibrant acidity and concentrated flavours ‚¬” an outstanding vintage for finesse and aromatic precision.
Winemaking: Grapes were hand-harvested and gently destemmed before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel. Gentle extraction preserved delicate aromas and texture. The wine was aged for approximately 18 months in a mix of small and large oak casks, developing complexity without overpowering the fruit. Minimal filtration ensured purity and finesse.
