Why this wine

Walker Bay sits close enough to the Atlantic that cold air moderates the ripening, which is why South Africa's best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir come from here rather than Stellenbosch. Creation are among the estates that proved it. Tight, citrus-led and unmistakably cool-climate.

Description

How it tastes

Pure and expressive with notes of lemon curd, white peach and nectarine, layered with hints of citrus blossom, flinty reduction, toasted hazelnut and delicate brioche. Subtle vanilla and mineral spice reflect precise barrel work and terroir influence. Elegant, concentrated and beautifully textured. Bright acidity frames flavours of citrus, ripe stone fruit and a touch of pineapple. Fine oak lends creamy complexity while maintaining freshness and restraint. A long, mineral, slightly saline finish underscores the wine's precision and cool-climate drive. EDKA Wines – Professional Tasting Description.

The producer

Situated in the cool, windswept Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, Creation Wines is renowned for precision, innovation and sustainably farmed, high-elevation vineyards. The estate specialises in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir crafted with Burgundian finesse and South African energy. The 'Art of Chardonnay' is Creation's flagship white wine, produced from select parcels on ancient clay and shale soils. It showcases meticulous winemaking, including wild fermentation and careful barrel maturation, yielding a Chardonnay of purity, tension and sculpted elegance.
