About the Winery: Ca Rugate has been family-owned since the early 1900s and is now run by the fourth generation of the Tessari family. Renamed in 1986 after the volcanic hills surrounding its vineyards, the estate covers 90 hectares in Soave and Valpolicella. Under Michele Tessariof direction, Ca Rugate has earned multiple ‚Tre Bicchieri awards from Gambero Rosso and was named by the New York Times among Italyof top five producers of high-end Soave. Sustainability and technical precision are central to the estateof organic vineyard management and modern cellar innovation.
Grape Variety: Corvina 45%, Corvinone 40%, Rondinella 15%
Appearance: Deep ruby with crimson edges and brilliant clarity.
Aroma: Enticing black fruit and cherry with subtle coffee, chocolate and warm oak spice notes.
Palate: Smooth and rounded with ripe cherry and raisin flavours balanced by spice and silky tannins. A portion of grapes is air-dried from October to December, then added to fermenting juice to enhance richness and texture. Aged eight to ten months in small oak barrels to develop depth and a lingering, mellow finish.
Body: Medium-Full ‚ rounded and silky with polished structure.
Acidity: Medium ‚ freshness balances the wineof rich texture and sweet fruit notes.
Cellaring Potential: Drink now for vibrant fruit or cellar to 2028 for greater complexity and smoothness.
Perfect Pairing: Roast duck, pork belly with cherry sauce or grilled aubergine with herbs and balsamic glaze.
