Description

2022 Fonte Canale, Agricola Tiberio

About the Winery: Agricola Tiberio is one of Abruzzo’s most celebrated estates, renowned for its meticulous focus on native varieties and terroir expression. The Tiberio family works with exceptionally old, rare massal selections of Trebbiano Abruzzese. Fonte Canale is their flagship white wine, sourced from a tiny, historic pre-WWII vineyard in Cugnoli, where ancient vines planted on limestone and clay soils produce a wine of striking purity, tension and longevity. Minimal-intervention winemaking preserves the vineyard’s unique character and high-altitude freshness.

Grape Variety: 100% Trebbiano Abruzzese (old-vine single-vineyard source)

Appearance: Pale straw with silver-green reflections and crystalline brightness, indicating high natural acidity and precision.

Aroma: Delicate and complex with notes of lemon zest, white peach, alpine flowers and wild fennel. Crushed stone, chalk and saline nuances reflect the vineyard’s altitude and mineral soils, gaining depth and lift with aeration.

Palate: Taut, pure and beautifully textured. Bright acidity drives flavours of citrus, pear skin and white almond. The wine is linear yet layered, with quietly powerful depth. A long, saline, chalky finish underscores its pedigree and exceptional ageing potential — a benchmark expression of Trebbiano Abruzzese.

Body: Light to medium-bodied with crystalline texture and understated concentration.

Acidity: High — vibrant, focused and essential to the wine’s structure, purity and longevity.

Cellaring Potential: 10–15 years; developing honeyed depth, savoury complexity and mineral richness while retaining definition and lift.

Perfect Pairing: Ideal with sea bass, scallops, sashimi, langoustine, refined vegetable dishes, risotto, fresh cheeses and herb-led Mediterranean cuisine. Its purity and mineral grip suit elegant seafood and mountain-influenced dishes.

Serving Temperature: 10–12°C to showcase detail, minerality and aromatic clarity.
