Description

A complex, stylish red blend with notes of raisined plum and cherry fruit, spice, and vanilla.

About the Winery: K'AVSHIRI is an extraordinary project, uniting five years of work by British former wine critic and author Robert Joseph, and Vladimer Kublashvili, highly experienced wine judge and chief winemaker for Winery Khareba. Their collaboration began after Joseph's fascination with Georgian wines led to a vision for a very special wine.

Grape Variety: Saperavi (58.3%) - a thick-skinned grape producing deep red wines with good acidity and tannins; Ojaleshi (14.2%) - brings fresh red-berry and floral notes with lively acidity and gentle tannins; Aleksandrouli (9.5%) - adds juicy cherry and subtle spice with a silky texture; Aladasturi (4.8%) - contributes bright, crunchy strawberry and cranberry tones and lift; Otskhanuri Sapere (4.7%) - delivers firm structure, vibrant acidity, and dark, savory blackcurrant/pepper nuances; Merlot (4.7%) - adds softness and fruit; Rkatsiteli (2.4%) - a white grape that can add structure and acidity; Mtsvane (1.4%) - another white grape contributing aromatic complexity. This blend offers a complex profile with dark fruit, spice, and a polished finish.

Appearance: Deep red in colour.

Aroma: Aromas of plums, cherries, and wild berries, with a faint hint of oak and violets.

Palate: The flavours are similar to the aroma, combining rich, dark berries with bright red cherries and subtle spices, with just a little vanilla. The flavour is very persistent.

Body: Full. This wine is described as complex and stylish, with rich, dark fruit and a persistent flavour, indicating a substantial mouthfeel.

Acidity: Medium. While not explicitly stated, the balance with rich fruit and polished tannins suggests a well-integrated acidity that supports the wine's structure without being overly sharp.

Cellaring Potential: Medium (5–10 yrs). The wine's complexity, structure, and polished tannins suggest it has good aging potential, likely benefiting from several years in the bottle.

Perfect Pairing: Red Meat, Cheese, Poultry.

Serving Temperature: 15–16°C for reds.
