Description
How it tastes
Red fruit with intense cherry, backed by liquorice and pepper spice over a broad structure. Merlot 35%, Cabernet Sauvignon 26%, Petit Verdot 24%, with Syrah.
The producer
Grown across soils from pebbly sandy clay to calcareous clay. Banfi was founded in 1978 by the Italian-American Mariani brothers with Ezio Rivella, and did much to modernise Tuscan winemaking.
Food and drinking
Good with red meat, cheese and pasta. Ready now, and will hold for a few years yet. Serve at 16–18°C.
