2022 Meursault Blanc, Joseph Drouhin
About the Winery: Founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s most respected family domaines, known for its commitment to elegance, terroir transparency and biodynamic principles. With vineyards across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, the estate applies meticulous care in both vineyard and cellar. Their Meursault Blanc is sourced from select parcels with classic limestone-clay soils, delivering a wine that balances richness with finesse — a hallmark of Drouhin’s refined, restrained winemaking style.
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Appearance: Pale golden yellow with green highlights, bright and luminous, reflecting youthful vibrancy and Meursault’s classic richness.
Aroma: Expressive aromas of ripe pear, apple and lemon zest layered with notes of hazelnut, acacia blossom, buttery brioche, toasted almond and subtle spice. A gentle mineral undertone provides lift and elegance, characteristic of Drouhin’s restrained élevage.
Palate: Rounded and harmonious with flavours of stone fruit, citrus cream and baked apple supported by delicate oak influence. Silky texture is balanced by fresh acidity and fine minerality, leading to a long, elegant finish with hints of almond, cream and chalk. A refined, modern Meursault with poise rather than heaviness.
Body: Medium-bodied with a smooth, polished texture and subtle richness.
Acidity: Medium — fresh, balanced and essential to the wine’s elegance and precision.
Cellaring Potential: 5–8 years; developing deeper nutty complexity, honeyed richness and enhanced minerality with age while retaining vibrancy.
Perfect Pairing: Ideal with roast chicken, sole meunière, scallops, lobster, creamy pastas, mushroom dishes and soft cheeses. Its balance of richness and tension makes it a versatile partner for refined French and Mediterranean cuisine.
Serving Temperature: 10–12°C to highlight aromatic detail, texture and minerality.
