About the Winery: Planeta is one of Sicily’s most dynamic and pioneering estates, known for exploring the island’s diverse terroirs while maintaining deep respect for tradition. The Eruzione 1614 range takes its name from the historic 1614 Mount Etna eruption, whose lava pushed across the slopes for ten years and now defines the region’s unique volcanic soils. This organic Pinot Nero showcases the finesse and mineral tension achievable at high altitude on Etna’s northern flank.
Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir)
Appearance: Pale to medium ruby with brilliant clarity and subtle garnet nuances at the rim.
Aroma: Red cherry, wild strawberry and pomegranate intertwined with rose petals, hints of spice, fresh mountain herbs and a distinct volcanic minerality.
Palate: Elegant and finely textured with pure red fruit, supple tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, linear finish marked by tension and mineral depth. A precise, graceful expression of Etna-grown Pinot Nero.
Body: Light to medium.
Acidity: Medium to high, providing lift and structure.
Cellaring Potential: Best enjoyed now or within 5–8 years to appreciate its aromatic purity and mineral drive.
