Description
How it tastes
Bright red cherry and red berry, elegant and perfumed, with a rich round mouthfeel, silky tannins and a touch of charry oak. Clone 115 from a single vineyard near the Waihopai Valley.
The producer
Neal and Judy Ibbotson planted their first Marlborough vineyards in 1978 and founded Saint Clair in 1994. They now farm 160 hectares across ten sites, bottling individual blocks separately rather than blending the region into one wine.
Food and drinking
Good with poultry & pork, red meat and cheese. Ready now, and will hold for a few years yet. Serve at 16–18°C.
