About the Winery: Established in 1969, Mount Langi Ghiran‚¬”meaning ‚¬œhome of the yellow-tailed black cockatoo‚¬ in the local Aboriginal language‚¬”is set among the Great Dividing Range in Victoriaof Grampians. Though vines were first planted in the late 1800s, the modern estate took shape when the Fratin brothers replanted the vineyards in 1969. In 1980, visionary winemaker Trevor Mast joined the project, pioneering Australiaof cool-climate Shiraz style and creating the iconic Langi Shiraz. Today, under winemaker Adam Louder, the estate crafts elegant, sustainable wines that embody purity, spice and finesse, and is a proud member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
Grape Variety: 100% Shiraz
Appearance: Deep garnet with violet hues and polished clarity.
Aroma: Intense aromas of black and red berries, vanilla, tar, mocha and baking spice, complemented by hints of pepper and minerality.
Palate: Concentrated yet refined, offering layers of dark fruit, spice and savoury depth. Whole berry fermentation using natural yeasts in concrete and open-top fermenters preserves purity and complexity. Matured 14 months in 100% French oak barriques (30% new), the wine delivers structure, elegance and a lingering mocha-spiced finish.
Body: Full ‚ structured and polished with fine tannins and rich texture.
