About the Winery: Founded in 1978 by Tim and Judy Finn, Neudorf Vineyards is a pioneering estate in Nelson and one of New Zealandof most respected wineries. The Finns early plantings helped define modern New Zealand Chardonnay, particularly the acclaimed Moutere style. Today, their daughter Rosie Finn continues the legacy alongside winemaker Todd Stevens and viticulturalist Stef Brockley. The estate is organically certified, dry-farmed, and powered by solar energy. Neudorfof wines express precision, restraint, and longevity, crafted from old vines rooted in clay and gravel soils that capture Nelsonof luminous sunshine and maritime freshness.
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay ‚ hand-harvested from dry-farmed, organically certified vines in the historic Moutere ‚Home Block vineyard, among the first Chardonnay plantings in the South Island.
Appearance: Pale gold with silver hues, clear and brilliant with a delicate viscosity from lees ageing.
Aroma: Subtle and complex aromas of oyster shell, roasted cashew, and flint overlay notes of white peach, citrus blossom, and brioche. Gentle oak spice adds depth and harmony.
Palate: Concentrated yet graceful, with layers of stone fruit, lemon curd, and almond cream over a textured, mineral core. The wineof power is matched by restraint, displaying fine acidity, polished oak, and an enduring, saline finish of remarkable clarity.
Body: Medium to full-bodied with a supple, creamy mid-palate and chalky tension.
Acidity: Bright yet refined, ensuring freshness and poise throughout the palate.
Cellaring Potential: Drink now for vibrancy or cellar 8‚12 years to develop layers of hazelnut, honey, and savoury depth.
Perfect Pairing: Perfect with roast chicken, grilled white fish, or dishes with creamy sauces; also complements shellfish, truffle pasta, or soft cheeses like Brie and Camembert.
