Rich and expressive, this off-dry Pinot Gris offers ripe peach, nectarine, and pear layered with spice, creaminess, and bright acidity for a long, zesty finish.

 

About the Winery: Founded in 1991 by surgeon and wine enthusiast Richard Bunton, Rockburn began as a small hobby vineyard and has grown into one of Central Otagoof leading producers. The appointment of winemaker Malcolm Rees-Francis in 2005, formerly of Felton Road, marked a turning point, earning the estate international acclaim. Rockburnof philosophy of ecological sustainability and minimal intervention results in wines that reflect Central Otagoof dramatic landscapes. Certified by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, Rockburn produces pure, expressive wines of precision and elegance, with Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris at the forefront of their range.

 

Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Gris ‚ hand-harvested from Rockburnof Parkburn and Gibbston Valley vineyards, featuring distinct microclimates and loamy, alluvial soils that impart texture and minerality.

 

Appearance: Pale gold with silver reflections, bright and crystalline in the glass.

 

Aroma: Lifted aromas of ripe pear, peach, and nectarine complemented by hints of spice, white blossom, and a touch of honeyed richness.

 

Palate: Generous and rounded with flavours of pear, pineapple, and stone fruit over a creamy mid-palate. A fine mineral streak adds definition, while subtle sweetness and vibrant acidity bring harmony and length to the lingering, zesty finish.

 

Body: Medium-bodied with smooth texture and balanced weight.

 

Acidity: Fresh and lively, providing structure and lift to the fruit richness.

 

Cellaring Potential: Drink now for freshness or cellar for 4‚6 years to develop subtle honeyed and nutty nuances.

 

Perfect Pairing: Perfect with Asian-style dishes, lightly spiced seafood, or creamy pasta; also pairs beautifully with soft cheeses and charcuterie.
