2023 Koshu, Grace Wine
About the Winery: Grace Wine is Japan’s leading family-owned winery, founded in 1923 in the Yamanashi region at the foot of Mount Fuji. The estate has become internationally recognised for elevating the indigenous Koshu grape through meticulous viticulture, high-altitude vineyards and minimalist winemaking. Grace aims for purity, elegance and terroir expression, crafting wines with delicacy, mineral finesse and a distinctive Japanese sense of precision and restraint.
Grape Variety: 100% Koshu (indigenous Japanese variety)
Appearance: Extremely pale straw with silver reflections, crystalline and delicate, reflecting Koshu’s subtle pigmentation and cool-climate freshness.
Aroma: Elegant notes of yuzu, white peach and green pear woven with white flowers, jasmine, wet stone and subtle hints of ginger and white tea. Quietly expressive and refined with a strong mineral lift.
Palate: Fresh, precise and gently textured with delicate citrus, pear and orchard fruit flavours. Crisp acidity supports a clean, mineral-driven palate with a long, subtle, saline-edged finish. A quintessential expression of Koshu’s purity and quiet complexity.
Body: Light-bodied with a silky, graceful mouthfeel.
Acidity: Medium to medium-high, giving tension and finesse while maintaining delicacy.
Cellaring Potential: 2–4 years; evolving notes of almond, dried citrus, gentle spice and deeper minerality while retaining precision.
Perfect Pairing: Sushi and sashimi, tempura, steamed white fish, tofu dishes, miso-based cuisine, ceviche, delicate vegetables and lightly spiced Asian dishes. Koshu’s finesse and minerality make it exceptionally versatile with clean, subtle flavours.
Serving Temperature: 8–10°C to highlight purity, aromatic finesse and mineral clarity.
