2023 Pinot Bianco ‘Versalto’, Alois Lageder
About the Winery: Alois Lageder is one of Alto Adige’s most influential estates, celebrated for biodynamic viticulture, precision winemaking and elegant, mountain-influenced wines. The family works with high-altitude vineyards rooted in limestone, volcanic and glacial soils, producing wines of purity, finesse and remarkable mineral clarity. ‘Versalto’ is drawn from selected elevated Pinot Bianco parcels, expressing the variety’s natural delicacy, freshness and alpine-driven tension that define Lageder’s signature style.
Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Bianco (Weissburgunder)
Appearance: Pale straw with green reflections and bright luminosity, showing youthful precision and cool-climate freshness.
Aroma: Notes of citrus blossom, pear and crisp apple layered with white flowers, alpine herbs, chalky minerality and gentle almond nuance. Refined and pure, with hallmark Alto Adige lift and clarity.
Palate: Elegant, fresh and finely textured with bright acidity and flavours of lemon, green apple and pear. Partial lees ageing adds subtle creaminess, balancing the wine’s linear mineral backbone. The finish is long, pure and delicately saline, reflecting its high-altitude origins.
Body: Light to medium-bodied with a sleek, polished texture and understated richness.
Acidity: Medium to high — bright, lifted and essential to the wine’s alpine precision.
Cellaring Potential: 3–5 years; developing subtle nutty tones, enhanced texture and deeper minerality with short-term ageing.
Perfect Pairing: Ideal with trout, shellfish, sushi, light pasta dishes, vegetable risotto, goat cheese and fresh salads. Its vibrancy and mineral clarity make it exceptionally versatile with delicate and alpine-inspired cuisine.
Serving Temperature: 10–12°C to emphasise freshness, florality and mineral definition.
