About the Winery: Founded in 1996 by the Tsililis family, Theopetra Estate is located at the foot of the Meteora Rocks near the prehistoric Cave of Theopetra, one of Europeof earliest sites of human habitation. Archaeological discoveries ‚¬” including ancient grape seeds ‚¬” prove the areaof deep-rooted viticultural history. The estateof mission is to revive the regionof winemaking legacy by cultivating indigenous Greek varieties organically. Today, Theopetraof 15-hectare vineyard combines heritage and innovation, producing expressive wines that capture the unique terroir of Meteoraof limestone-rich hillsides.
Grape Variety: 100% Xinomavro ‚ sourced from the Platanos vineyard on hilly slopes with a 5‚10% gradient at 230 metres elevation. The continental climate brings cold winters and dry, sunny summers moderated by northerly winds from Mount Pindos, while diurnal temperature shifts enhance aromatic precision and natural acidity. The sandy-clay soils with high limestone content and slate subsoils promote excellent drainage and minerality. Organically cultivated double-cordon-trained vines are spur-pruned and hand-harvested in the early morning to preserve freshness.
Appearance: Pale ballet-slipper pink, reflecting purity and finesse.
Aroma: Expressive and fresh with aromas of pink grapefruit, sanguine orange, and white peach alongside raspberry and subtle herbal undertones.
Palate: Crisp, textural, and vibrant, offering flavours of red citrus, peach, and summer berries balanced by mineral tension and herbal lift. Fermented at low temperatures (15‚17°C) after a short four-hour maceration and matured for three months on fine lees to enhance texture and depth.
Body: Light and delicate with refined texture and balance.
Acidity: Bright and refreshing, complementing the wineof aromatic fruit core.
