Why this wine

Falanghina is an ancient Campanian grape, possibly grown in Roman times, revived over the past thirty years. Green apple and white flowers with a firm mineral core. Southern Italy's answer to a good Chablis.

Description

How it tastes

Delicate white flowers and stone fruit, fresh and well balanced with real minerality and a long, zesty-lemon finish. Fermented at 16–18°C to hold the aromatics.

The producer

The vineyards sit on volcanic sand in the hills at Sorbo Serpico, an hour from Naples and within sight of Vesuvius. Feudi di San Gregorio started in the mid-1980s specifically to rescue southern Italy's native varieties, and did more than anyone to restore the region's standing.

Food and drinking

Good with seafood, salads and poultry & pork. Ready now, and will hold for a few years yet. Serve at 10–12°C.

Free shipping on orders over £250.
