Description

An intense and concentrated Porto Branco, with delicate floral aromas and rich flavours of crystalised orange through to a long and delicate finish with balanced sweetness.

About the Winery: Quinta do Vallado, established in 1716, is one of the oldest and most famous estates in the Douro Valley, located on the banks of the River Corgo. It was once owned by Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira and remains in the possession of her descendants. The winery diversified in the early 1990s to produce dry red, white, and rosé wines alongside their top-quality Port. They have restructured vineyards, planting single varietal plots, and now have 10 hectares of old, low-yielding vines, 55 hectares planted during the 1990s, and 35 hectares of organic vineyard from Quinta do Orgal.

Grape Variety: Moscatel Galego 80%, Field Blend White 20% - Moscatel Galego Branco (Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains) brings lifted orange blossom, jasmine, grape and spice aromas with citrus-led sweetness; the old-vine field blend (typically Rabigato, Viosinho, Gouveio, Códega do Larinho, Malvasia Fina, among others) adds structure, freshness, mineral detail and a dry, zesty counterpoint to balance the richness.

Appearance: Deep golden straw with light amber highlights.

Aroma: Delicate floral aromas and rich crystalised orange, with orange blossom, jasmine, honeyed grape and citrus peel.

Palate: Intense and concentrated with flavours of crystalised orange, spiced marmalade and apricot, leading to a long, delicate, balanced-sweet finish.

Body: Full - This wine is described as intense and concentrated, indicating a substantial presence on the palate.

Acidity: Medium to medium-high, providing lift and balance to the sweetness.

Cellaring Potential: Short (2–5 yrs) - The wine spent three years maturing in stainless steel tanks, suggesting it is ready to drink or can be aged for a short period to further develop its characteristics.

Perfect Pairing: Cheese, Desserts, Nuts (e.g., blue cheese, salted almonds, fruit tarts, crème brûlée).

Serving Temperature: 8–10°C (46–50°F), well-chilled.
