About the Winery: Established in 1998, Craggy Range is a family-owned winery situated beneath the dramatic Te Mata Peak in Hawkeof Bay. Founded by Terry and Mary Peabody with winemaker Steve Smith MW, the estate produces iconic single-vineyard wines from Hawkeof Bay, Martinborough and Marlborough. Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Appearance: Vibrant ruby red with garnet highlights and polished brilliance.
Aroma: Aromas of dried lavender, wild thyme and red cherry with subtle notes of crushed raspberry and spice.
Palate: Silky and harmonious, with layers of red fruit, savoury complexity and orange-zest lift. Fruit is hand-harvested from the Wairarapa subregionof ancient volcanic soils, destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts in open-topped stainless steel and French oak vats. Aged eight months in French oak barriques (21% new) to enhance finesse and texture.
Body: Medium ‚ supple and refined with fine, integrated tannins.
Acidity: Medium ‚ refreshing balance supporting the fruit purity and length.
