Why this wine
Carraovejas broke Ribera convention by blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot into Tempranillo, and by farming steep slopes above Penafiel that most producers had ignored. The result is darker and more structured than classical Ribera. Two vintages side by side make the vintage effect unusually easy to read.
