Why this wine

Russian River is warmer than the Sonoma Coast, giving a richer, darker Pinot Noir. A single-vineyard bottling from the same trio of founders. Worth having beside the coastal wine if the comparison interests you.

Description

How it tastes

Black raspberry and pomegranate with lavender, rose oil and wild sage, leading to black fruit and mineral notes over an earthy finish. Whole-berry fermented in open tops with wild vineyard yeasts.

The producer

This comes from the vineyard formerly known as Keefer Ranch, one of Russian River's most celebrated sites. Senses is the work of three childhood friends — Christopher, Max and Myles — with winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown.

Food and drinking

Good with poultry & pork, red meat and cheese. Drinking well now, with a decade or more ahead of it. Serve at 16–18°C.
