Description

How it tastes

Rich and classic — marzipan, raisin, cinnamon and cherry with savoury winter fragrances, over refined tannins and beautiful length. Grenache 50%, Mourvèdre 30%, Syrah 15%, Cinsault 5%.

The producer

Château de Saint Cosme sits in Gigondas and has been in the Barruol family for over 500 years. Louis Barruol, the fourteenth generation, took over in 1992 and makes his Châteauneuf in the most traditional way — old vines, small yields.

Food and drinking

Good with poultry & pork, red meat and cheese. Drinking well now, with a decade or more ahead of it. Serve at 16–18°C.
