Why this wine
Pinot Gris in New Zealand is made richer and slightly off-dry, closer to Alsace than to Italian Pinot Grigio. Pear-scented and soft. An easy crowd-pleaser.

How it tastes
Freshly cut pear with peach undertones, softly textured, and balanced through layers of ripe pear, peach and passionfruit with a touch of spice.
The producer
Lake Chalice was founded in 1989 in the heart of Marlborough; the New Zealand falcon, kārearea, appears on every bottle. This fruit comes from the nutrient-rich flood plains of the lower Wairau Valley, pressed immediately to limit skin contact.
Food and drinking
Good with seafood, salads and poultry & pork. Ready now, and will hold for a few years yet. Serve at 8–10°C.
