Why this wine
Greek rose is made from indigenous reds rather than Provencal varieties, giving more structure and grip than the pale southern French style. Xinomavro's acidity makes it particularly good at it.

How it tastes
Pale and lively, with raspberry, rose petal, spice and mineral notes. Crisp, with a creamy fruited palate and a long finish.
The producer
Xinomavro is northern Greece's great red grape, here from a single vineyard in the Hedgehog subregion of the Amyndeon Plateau. Alpha Estate is the work of grower Makis Mavridis and Bordeaux-trained winemaker Angelos Iatrides.
Food and drinking
Good with seafood, salads and poultry & pork. Ready now, and will hold for a few years yet. Serve at 8–10°C.
