How it tastes
A beautifully balanced Bolgheri blend where delicate spice and classic balsamic notes meet rich flavours of plum and black fruits, delivering smooth texture and elegant harmony. Expressive with aromas of plum, blackberry, and blackcurrant layered with delicate spice, cedar, and balsamic undertones. Rich yet refined with ripe black fruits, sweet spice, and polished tannins. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel with selected yeasts and a 25-day maceration. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in French oak and matured for 18 months — 70% in 500-litre tonneaux and 30% in French barriques, one-third of which were new. The oak ageing softens the structure while enhancing depth and savoury complexity. Contains sulphites.
The producer
Campo alle Comete is a 26-hectare estate located at the foot of Castagneto Carducci on the Etruscan coast, near the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its name recalls the era when Bolgheri's landscape was marked by open fields (“Campi”) and starlit paths illuminated by comets (“Comete”). The estate was founded in 2016 by Antonio Capaldo, who envisioned a new expression of Bolgheri through international grape varieties and artistic inspiration. Renowned illustrator Nicoletta Ceccoli captured the estate's whimsical identity in her dreamlike artwork, now featured on the labels. Behind this creative spirit lies a serious pursuit of quality and sustainability — Campo alle Comete achieved B Corporation certification in 2022, underscoring its commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
