Why this wine
'890' is the wine La Rioja Alta makes only when it judges a vintage worthy of the name, and six years in barrel followed by six in bottle is a commitment almost nobody else in the region still makes. It arrives ready rather than asking for another decade of patience, which is rare at this level. This is the classical style of Rioja at close to its highest expression, and the anchor the Spanish end of the range is built around.
