Why this wine
Properly mature claret is the hardest thing to buy at this price, and this one arrives with a decade already behind it and no cellaring required. Forty-year-old vines on a single Médoc block, fermented in wooden tanks and aged mostly in French oak, give the classic left-bank shape: red berries, oak spice and fine tannin rather than weight. A 2015 from an excellent Bordeaux vintage.
