Why this wine

Mornington Peninsula is far better known for Pinot Noir, yet Paringa Estate's Shiraz is the wine that wins it trophies. This is the single-vineyard bottling from a north-facing block planted in 1985, given 21 days on skins and 18 months in French oak, and 2018 was one of the estate's strongest vintages in three decades. Cool-climate Shiraz with pepper and structure rather than jam.
