Why this wine

Montagne Saint-Émilion sits next door to Saint-Émilion itself and sells for a fraction of the price, which is the whole point of this bottle. Ageing happens in tank rather than barrel, so the fruit arrives unvarnished instead of buried under vanilla. A ripe, low-yielding 2020 makes it a generous introduction to right-bank Merlot.
