Why this wine

El Espino is the plot selection off Finca Áster's 87 hectares at Anguix, optically sorted and built for finesse rather than weight. Half the fruit goes through malolactic in steel to keep the palate supple, and only a fifth of the barrels are new, so the oak stays behind the fruit. 2020 was officially classified as an excellent vintage in Ribera del Duero, and the wine shows it.
