Why this wine

Côte-Rôtie is the steepest and most storied hill in the northern Rhône, terraced so severely it can only be worked by hand. Maison Rouge is a named lieu-dit of just two hectares, fifty-year-old vines at 10,000 to the hectare, given two years in barrel by Christine Vernay. Fine, perfumed Syrah with the structure to keep.
