Why this wine

Le Claux is 1.8 hectares of pre-phylloxera-era vines that were meant to be grubbed up in 1914 and are still standing because nobody came home to do it. Louis Barruol bottles it separately because its clay and limestone marl give a finer, fresher Gigondas than the appellation's usual weight. Certified organic, unfiltered, and among the most admired single parcels in the southern Rhône.
