Why this wine

Saint-Émilion on the label usually means a price to match, and 3.5 hectares of vines a short walk from Château Monbousquet is about as close to the good stuff as this budget goes. Eighteen months in tank and cement rather than barrel keeps the plum and blueberry fruit clear and the tannins silky. A straightforward, well-farmed introduction to the appellation.
