Why this wine

Monção and Melgaço is the one corner of Vinho Verde where Alvarinho ripens fully, and Reguengo de Melgaço has been a reference there since its first vintage in 2001. Nine hectares split between river-bed clay and granite hillside, fermented cool in steel with no oak at all. It gives the weight of a serious white without losing the bite.
