Why this wine

Red slate is the scarce soil of the Mosel, and Dr Loosen farms these parcels in Ürzig, Erden, Lösnich and Kinheim specifically for dry Riesling. Ageing on the fine lees in neutral oak fuder gives a creamy weight that most dry Mosel Riesling never reaches. One of the region's benchmark estates, in a bottling made to be drunk rather than cellared for decades.
